The SOS-SB works just the same as the F1ND does for the location of people.

The difference is that you can also find your sled, if it is equipped with the optional SledBug Module. To find your buried SledBug equipped snow machine, have the SOS-SB in the Search mode and push the BUG button recessed into the bottom end.

You will then have changed the searching frequency of your SOS-SB Beacon from the normal life saving 457 kHz frequency to the special SB Channel. Your SOS-SB Beacon will now produce a distinct clicking sound that is heard only when on the SB searching channel. Note that the clicking sound only indicates that you are on the SB channel, not that you are near the buried sled. When you are in range of your search object, (the sled), you will hear the same beeping sounds as when searching for a person. As such, you will use the same search techniques for locating your snowmobile as you would for a person.

Note that after about two minutes of searching on the SB Channel, your SOS-SB Beacon will revert back to the 457 kHz frequency. To continue searching on the SB Channel, again push the BUG button.

You may return to the 457 kHz people search frequency at any time by pushing the large white transmit/search switch back in, (and therefore returning to the transmit mode), and then pulling it back out to the receive/search mode.

Caution:

On a person, never use a SledBug or SnowBug transmitter instead of an avalanche beacon. In part, this is because SOS is the only manufacturer in the world that makes beacons with the SB channel. No other beacon exists that can home in on the SB frequency. Hence a person wearing a Bug could not be located by any receiver other than an SOS-SB.
Similarly, never place a 457 kHz avalanche beacon on a dog or other non-human item.
Quite often, downhill professionals will purchase the SOS-SB beacon and a SnowBug rather than two F1ND personal locator transceiver units. This gives them the ability to practice searches alone as well as having the additional flexibility that the SB provides.
